Denial is the Disorder

No one thinks they have an eating disorder. Billboards, magazines, TV, and movies would have us believe that we have to work for the right size body for the best look in clothing, to be worthy of the best partners, great jobs, and magnificent homes. Happiness seems to be directly tied to our garment size. So many of us are researching the latest diets, consuming pharmaceuticals, counting every gram & calorie that goes into our bodies, and paying for gym memberships we sometimes forget about. We obsess about our inches and pounds. We avoid entire food groups, exercise multiple hours a day, and sometimes drink large volumes of water to avoid nourishing our bodies adequately. It took me about 3 weeks in a residential treatment center, to understand what I had been doing to myself for over 40 years.
